"So wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenky”.
The powerful African concept of 'Sankofa' is the idea of returning to your roots to gain wisdom. African women have a rich history of strength, intelligence, nurturing, love, & leadership within our families & communities. We must embrace our heritage & history, & understand who we are. Sankofa, which means 'return, go, look, seek, & take,' reflects the Akan tribe's quest for knowledge. It's a reminder that it's not wrong to revisit our past to learn from it. The missing piece in our existence is Afrocentricity. By embracing our heritage, we can truly love & accept ourselves, & gain a profound sense of freedom. It's time for us to embrace our Queenism, not just for ourselves but for our entire Queendom. Remember 'Unity is strength, division is weakness.' Let's come together & build this tribe & celebrate our heritage & empower one another.

Tomaro Monique, LMSW, HS-BCP, CD
In my life's journey, I've discovered an incredible source of peace rooted in love, knowledge, acceptance, understanding, & sharing. With over two decades of unwavering dedication in the behavioral health field, I've poured my heart and soul into making a difference. From a supervisor in a residential treatment center for teenagers to my role as founder of a nonprofit organization, my journey has been marked by caring, commitment, and a deep knowledge of the field.
My work has touched the lives of children, adolescents, and families in diverse settings, including residential facilities, homes, offices, and schools. But what truly fuels my passion is the work I continue to do through my nonprofit organization, Tomaro's CHANGE. It's my way of giving back to the community and offering support to families and individuals who need it most.
Beyond my professional experience, I've honed my skills in holistic wellness coaching and community-based birth coaching, with a special focus on women of African descent. My approach goes beyond the textbook – it embraces the soothing power of aromatherapy, the empowerment of mindfulness and meditation practices, and personalized or group coaching tailored to our community's unique needs.
My journey isn't just about qualifications; it's about a personal commitment to help individuals find their path to holistic wellness. I prioritize building meaningful relationships, offering gentle yet effective strategies for managing anxiety and stress, and providing essential coping skills for those dealing with mild depression. For first-time moms, my support extends through pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, with a wealth of resources to promote overall well-being.
